Today is the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas - and it's also my Tommy's adoption day! I will never forget when I realized that our assigned court date happened to land on this feast day. Just one of the many great moments of grace during that time of our life.
On this day, three years ago, we finalized Tommy's adoption in court. Praise God for the gift of adoption and for bringing us our sweet son.
As you can tell from this picture, I was bawling! :) No surprise.
Speaking of crying, I did a lot of crying this past weekend while away on retreat. I was so blessed to go on retreat from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon. It was AMAZING. I'm hoping to blog about my reflections and how the Lord spoke to me. I knew that I needed some time away but I didn't realize just how much I needed this retreat.
I took only one picture on the retreat and it was of this beautiful statue of the Holy Family in the chapel. I prayed a lot for my family and for my vocation as wife and mother. I had been feeling blogged down by daily life. I had taken my husband and children for granted. It was wonderful to take a step away from "real life" and reflect on the great gift they are to me. And to pray for strength to be a better wife and mother.
Not surprisingly, I have to run... but I will write more later.
St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!

New Year and a New Look
I decided it was time for a new look for my blog. Although I'm not finished yet, so hopefully I can keep working on it and tweaking some things. I love being a blogger, but I go through stretches when I can't seem to update regularly. I'm hoping the fresh start of this new year will motivate me to blog more consistently.
Not surprisingly, it's hard to find the time. And I don't have much time now - but I decided to post quickly so I can at least put something up. Between the move and the holidays and traveling it's been a crazy six weeks.
My hubby and I actually have a date night tonight, so that is exciting! Actually, it's more of a date-afternoon. Our high school babysitter has today off, so she will be here in 30 minutes. My husband is leaving work early so we can do some furniture shopping and then get dinner. Hooray!
I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!
