Baby Blessing

Molly's hospital tags have her name listed as "Baby Blessing" since she is being adopted... and I couldn't agree more! She is truly a blessing and we are loving her more and more everyday.

Today my hubby and I spent some quality time with Molly since my friend H was able to take Tommy for the day. She also brought us a delicious home-cooked meal which was so thoughtful!

Here are a few quick updates on Molly and our situation. She had a good day and starting the weaning process. She is on morphine and they will slowly bring down her dosage each day and observe that she's handling the changes. Hopefully she has a good 24 hours and can continue lowering the levels tomorrow.

She also took a bottle during her 6:30pm and 9:30pm feedings. It was so great to feed her and give her a little more care and attention than yesterday. Hopefully they will be able to remove her feeding tube soon. Also her body temps have maintained and she no longer needs to be under the heaters. Lots of good steps today!

Despite our situation we have been very blessed. We are in a Catholic hospital which is wonderful. Tommy and I visit the chapel 2-3 times a day. It's both helpful and sad that the chapel has been empty every single time we are there. I love that there is a cross in every room of the hospital and a prayer comes over the loud speaker at noon.

Also, even though Molly is still a NICU patient, we were transferred to the Pediatric unit. (They needed the space for more critical babies.) This means Tommy is allowed to be with us and we have a huge room! The Peds unit has a big play room full of toys that has been helpful to entertain Tommy.

The staff has been wonderful and we feel that Molly is getting great care. The cafeteria food is pretty good and the room service is super convenient. Somehow we will make all of this work!
